Edgar Day 5&6 + More Sticky Testing

Things are moving along...

Isabel painted the outside patio and finished our tables right before the rain.
Simon and I redid the top part where our sign will be, oh that sticky metal paint...
Jean-Seb installed another ac (apparently, everyone thought I could not live without)

Inside, every little change seems to make such an impact.
We repainted and reinstalled some blackboards - one was used to hide the dish area.

The boys also moved back the counter to create more space for clients (less for me, but I am small!) Jean-Seb was very happy to use another power tool to cut the tile.

I bought lights (Michel installed a few yesterday, they make me so happy! I will picture them today.) and found my flooring as well. We should start this morning.

I did some more sticky bun testing (I had four testers) and although they all liked them, I am still doubting. Doubting that they might be too messy, sticky, sugary for people to have them for breakfast. I think I might do cinnamon buns. Anyone have a preference? Sticky buns or cinnamon bun?

I agree - those look amazing, but messy! I'm thinking cinnamon buns. But how about a hybrid? That could be cool!

Things are looking wonderful Marysol! Those sticky buns do look divine! But probably too messy for takeout.

a sticky bun is not something that's meant to be eaten whilst walking or driving. let's be honest. as long as you have decent take out boxes for them (thinking the type that chinese takeout comes in...), you should be alright.

sticky buns are a market that haven't been cornered very well here and i know a lot of people who would love to have one.

This is officially my new favorite blog. I love watching the great progress you are making on Edgar! Oh, and I am happy with either sticky or cinnamon buns.

Wow Marysol!! it's looking so awesome!! You have such wonderful friends helping you like that!! I love both sticky and cinnamon. I would eat sticky at the resto and take out the cinnamon one for later! Just have wet naps ready!

Just from the look of them...I'd rather a cinnamon bun!
You are right thinking that no matter how delicious these sticky buns are, they are too sticky, too messy, too much fuss!

i just discovered your blog in the last week or two and have enjoyed the behind the scenes. your sticky buns look amazing but if i was popping in for something sweet and a cup of coffee, i'd probably go for cinnamon roll. can't wait to see what you decide - i'm sure it will be delish!

I'm one of those weird people that hates having sticky fingers. I use up 500 napkins when I eat something messy. So perhaps I'm not the one to ask. Personally, I would vote for apple turnovers with pâte d'amande, but I digress...

Messy
Sticky

No Walnuts, and no Raisins.

Is there anything better?

Is it possible that I am this close to heaven and people may be talking you out of it?

hold fast, stand guard, and please, if only for a couple of days a month, bring the sticky buns down to your faithful masses.

warmth,

mark

quickly -- I'll eat sticky buns if I'm sitting down with a knife and fork. I'll choose cinnamon rolls if I'm in a rush, needing to walk and eat... so the choice depends on what you think your customers will want -- sitting down or running and eating!! Your photos are awesome -- it looks like the place is coming along very well. Courage!

I am willing to try both for you to give you solid product evaluation.

Oh Anne!! You are smart!!

Kaitlin, aren't you the marketing type?

I am taking all these comments into consideration... I will try making the same dough for both - although I would like the cinnamon buns more fluffy.

Maybe sticky muffin. Yes a sticky muffin and cinnamon buns. Interior dialogue here friends...

Mark, I will do those for you only if they are not on the menu. Or teach Nicole ;P

Your sticky buns look great! Isn't the stickiness the whole point? I'd rather have this than a cinnamon roll, but I'd take either. Great to see how much progress you are making!
