a little late posting this but i have been so busy.
trying to draw as much as i possibly can for an upcoming art show, pulling some kitchen shifts for staff that are on vacation, doing my best to interview as many people for positions to fill for the busy season to come, and answering work emails... from home.
but still makin' time for bloggin' and yummy pictures!
so, we had a jolly old time this saturday.
three tables lined up for a fun corn roast with friends.
all these couples called up to do something with us, so we thought, why not combine all of them?
before people arrived, simon and i had a nice glass of sparkling.
i stuck to that all night, it was really delightful. bubbles straight to the brain.
we all walked around the garden , made some polite chit-chat and sipped drinks, the drink of choice seemed to be homemade sangria. I've always loved the sight of wine soaked fruit and ice cubes in the sun.
Then...things got serious.
croquet. doesn't isabel look like a natural? she had quite the pose...
I totally zoned out and forgot to take pictures of the rest of the evening. Although I thought I could share was a quick and easy butter for corn + fun dessert for summer.
lime and cilantro butter
1/2 pound unsalted butter
1 bunch coriander, chopped
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp coarse salt
juice and zest of one lime
we left extra cayenne on the table so that people could adjust to their liking.
all brought side salads, i was a sucker for a tasty mango and tomato one.
and we finished the evening with some strawberry concoction that i had done the night before
2 pints strawberries
1 lebanese cucumber
1 cup ice wine
2 cups rose wine
1/2 cup honey
2 Tbsp good quality balsamic vinegar
1 lime, juiced
put all ingredients in a blender, freeze in a large glass roasting pan.
you can play with the quantities, i used what i had on hand...add water if the taste is a bit too intense.
